Garth Robinson Oborn – Bio
Garth Robinson Oborn is noted for his realistic oil paintings depicting the mountainous regions of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. The mountains in his work are often painted in detail, reflecting their true rugged nature. Much of his time is spent creating an emotion of tranquility expressed with the sensitive use of color and light cast during the early dawn and twilight settings.
Born and raised in the Intermountain West, Garth received his BBA at Idaho State University and now resides in Bountiful, Utah. As an active outdoorsman, he has satisfied this additional need for artistic self-expression through painting the natural environment. It has been his love for the Rocky Mountain Regions that inspired Garth to paint seriously. Over time, he developed a “delicate sense of feeling” in his landscapes – particularly his warm lighting of the alpenglow.
Garth has sold his work through the Williams Fine Art Gallery in Salt Lake City, Repartee Galleries in Park City and Salt Lake City, as well as the Buffalo Trail Fine Art Gallery and Rich Haines Galleries in Jackson, Wyoming. He has been featured in shows sponsored by Gallery of the West in Jackson as well as the Voris Gallery in Salt Lake City. Garth and a number of his paintings were featured in a production by Travelview International, a firm capturing the sights of the worlds most highly favored travel destinations. One of his works, a 40 X 70 oil on canvas entitled, “Wyoming’s Grand Tetons,” was featured in Southwest Art Magazine. His landscapes can also be found on the covers of Pioneer Magazine, as well as other corporate publications.
Much of Garth’s success can be credited to a number of gifted artists and art collectors who have provided positive motivation and sound advice. Pieces of his work now hang in banks, corporate offices, and private collections throughout the United States and in China.
Collectors include: Questar Corporation, Salt Lake City; KeyCorp collections, Albany, New York and Cleveland, Ohio; Huntsman Chemical Corporation, Salt Lake City; Foley & Larder, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Brigham Young University Museum of Art, Provo, Utah; Key Bank of Idaho collection, Boise, Idaho; Clyde, Pratt & Snow collection, Salt Lake City, Utah; Bonneville Mortgage Corporation, Salt Lake City, Utah, among others.
